Painting never came easy to me. I used to be preoccupied with the technicalities and colour theory.
It has taken a long time to overcome these difficulties and fears, I would find myself frozen, staring at a blank canvas, not wanting to make a mistake. Somehow I have learned that mistakes are part of the discovery process, and that each mistake can be used to inform the next decision, or can be used in the painting in some way. You may see evidence of this as my work evolves over time.
I now try to paint with as much freedom as is possible, and in a very loose intuitive way. I use a limited palette and like to use knives, fingers, brushes and other bits and pieces to create marks and textures.
