Falkland Islands – 2012
In 2012 I visited the islands for the first time to visit my son. I went not knowing what to expect, only the half formed thoughts and memories of that conflict 30 years ago.
I do not wish to make a political statement concerning the rights and wrongs of that conflict, all I can say is of that of the many Falkland Islanders I spoke to all were eternally grateful that the British military delivered them from what they saw as an unwanted forced occupation.
As for the islands themselves, they are by far the most wonderful islands I have ever seen. I hope the paintings and photographs show elements of that wonder I experienced.
